Confirmed: Nocturnal Wonderland Texas will not return in 2013

Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella yesterday confirmed that Nocturnal Wonderland Texas, typically held outside Austin near Rockdale, Tex.,  will not return this year.

“I’m bummed to announce #NoCtUrNaLwOnDeRlaNd Texas isn’t happening in 2013,” said Rotella via Twitter. “I’m hoping to bring it back sometime in the near future.”

The announcement did not come as much of a surprise, however.

Rotella tweeted early in January that he was “not yet 100% sure” if Nocturnal would occur this year.

Fans became more skeptical of a Nocturnal Texas 2013 after Meltdown Music Festival, produced by Disco Donnie Presents and Full Access, announced their Dallas festival would be held on April 27, the weekend typically reserved for Nocturnal.

Rotella also announced in January that Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) would make an annual visit in Texas, leading many to speculate that EDC would replace Nocturnal, with September as a target month.

No further announcements on a city or date for EDC Texas have been made.

The Rockdale Reporter first reported the Nocturnal news in February and noted the annual impact of the festival on the local economy topped over $200,000.
